In Russia, the websites of three Ukrainian documentary filmmakers with all their domains and subdomains have been blocked. Among them are the website of Alena Grom https://alenagrom.com, the website of Mstislav Chernov and Alexander Maslov.
These websites were included in the register of banned court decisions of the «Russian state body». Roskomsvoboda stipulates that the websites were blocked «on the principle of military censorship».
This once again proves that the work of Ukrainian documentary filmmakers is very important and shows the power and influence of photographs.

«13 Stories of War» Ukrainian Warchive

Ukrainian Warchive photo book tells the story of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine through visual stories and texts by Ukrainian photographers.Ukrainian Warchive has presented the book «13 Stories of War», which brings together visual essays created by Ukrainian photographers and artists during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The stories collected in the book go beyond traditional media formats, offering a view of the war through the personal experiences of the authors.Projects dedicated to themes of resistance, loss, and hope provide a better understanding of the challenges and emotions faced by individuals during the war. «13 Stories of War» offers a thoughtful exploration of events in Ukraine, fostering a deeper understanding of the shared human experience in times of adversity.

“The stories and testimonies in this book are not only photographs. They are beautiful, brutal, present, and personal — photographic adjectives, filled with content that is deeper and more relevant than most news photography can ever hope to be. But, perhaps most importantly, they are historical documents, visual evidence to be presented in a future where the fog of war has cleared, and justice once again prevails”, wrote Swedish photojournalist Paul Hansen in the book’s foreword.   >>>

Generation XYZ book

If many people perceive old black-and-white photos as conditionally “valuable” and “historical,” then color photos taken in the 1990s-2010s on film and/or digital compact cameras remain primarily undervalued. The photo book “Ukrainians XYZ: habits, tastes, everyday life” proves that such photos are a real source of the visual history of Ukrainian society. Artist and photography researcher Andriy Dostlev and radio presenter and screenwriter Marta Molfar collected photos of three generations: “X” (born in 1964-1984), “Y” (born in 1985-1999), and “Z” (born after 2000). . Anyone could send a photo from a vacation, a feast, or near the first PC to become part of the archive. Even though only a part of the obtained photos was included in the book, it can be helpful for the visual anthropology of Ukrainian realities of the last three decades.
